Great food and good size portions for a great price. I had the French toast with an added side of country potatoes.

This place is a hidden gem. A friend recommended it to me. The breakfast is delicious and great portion size. My husband got the chicken fried steak and was very pleased with it. I got the French toast and it was one of the best I have had. It was fluffy and very flavorful. They are very friendly here. They also have a lunch menu which looks yummy. We will definitely be back soon.

Great place to eat and great history. My brother and I used to stop here when it was a truck stop in 1988 timeframe. My brother before that in the 70s. Great conversation with the old timers there. Recommend to all for a great meal.

  • *****

I went there yesterday morning and spoke with several of the old timers. I used to drive a big rig back in the late 80s and me and my brother stopped there several times when is was the old truck stop. A welcomed stop for some rest, food, and shower. I shared my visit with my older brother. One of the gentlemen stated back in the 70s was around 33 cents a gallon. Spoke about Elvis and he served with him in the Army. A great visit and great breakfast.

Off the beaten path but easy to get to off the 99, we stopped at this unassuming place for a quick breakfast on the way to Yosemite. What a find! Definitely a local place, you can see the regulars up at the counter bantering with the waitstaff. The staff know what these patrons want and get it for them before they have to order!

Our server was Ashley, a friendly fresh faced server (highlight on point btw!) whose suggestion for the cheese and salsa for the hash browns was perfect! I'm picky about my eggs-they have to be VERY well done or they go back. She eats her the same way so they came out well done but not totally dried out. That's super hard to do so color me impressed. The corned beef hash was good, and lightly crispy. The biscuit was dense, but in a good way. Dense but not heavy? I don't know, but it was good. And the gravy-win! Most gravy is made with too much black pepper for my taste, but this was definitely a sausage gravy. You could taste the smoky sausage/bacon flavor in the gravy without black pepper overload. It was just the right consistency.

Overall I have to say A+ for my food and service! If you happen to find yourself up this way definitely stop in for a bite!

I was broke down in my truck. The turbo went out in it, was at the dealership, next door was KK, so real convenient. I first had burger, fries, it was really good. I decided to get some breakfast before I rolled out that morning, was excellent, plus the waitress was really cute. I will be back, everyone in there I talked to was friendly.

Always a great meal. Greeted and treated great!
Bring a big appetite, the portions are generous.
Lots of regulars. This says a lot about the quality.
Simple and relaxing surroundings. Easy to find right off the 99.

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to the March Meet at Famoso, place had quite a few customers so that was a good sign. I ordered some coffee right away and scanned the menu. I ordered a Denver omelet with country style potatoes and biscuit and gravy, my brother in law ordered Bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast. Order came out before I finished my first cup of coffee and all was great, waitress kept my coffee cup topped up and that's important. I have been here once or twice before and will definitely be coming back.

Driving thru Bakersfield or want a change of scenery for breakfast, look no more. You'll definitely get ur bang for ur buck here. If u have a rather large group this place could be iffy but small families , couples , and truck drivers are perfect passing thru or visiting Bakersfield, Ca.

    Great food
    Great service
    Large portions
    Very reasonable prices
I'm an over the road trucker and I try to stop here every time I'm in the area. I have the chicken fried steak breakfast, and have been getting the full order but I'm going to have to go to the 1/2 order ? I never ever leave any food on my plate, and I just couldn't finish it all. ...

  • *****

You gotta know it's good if the Sheriff's boys eat there!!

  • *****

Good country cooking. This is one of those things that I love about Bakersfield. Thick bacon, great gravy, and crispy hash browns. Yum

  • *****

For a simple little cafe off of Highway 99, the food and service are perfection! I had the bacon, Swiss, avocado burger, with fries, and ranch. So delicious! The burger was juicy. Avocado perfectly ripe. The ranch is so good! Also, my company enjoyed the eggs Benedict. YUM! Our waitress was very friendly and on point. A great experience. Thank you!

I love the down home country feeling of this place. And, the camaraderie of the locals...farmers, the friendly waitresses all make you feel right at home. The "regulars" go behind the counter and feel at ease to pour themselves another cup of coffee. The food is very good too!!

Stopped in for a late breakfast on Memorial Day and we were immediately greeted at the door by a smiling server. This is exactly what you think a roadside diner should be with all the character and history that one would expect...the difference was that the food was actually not your typical greasy spoon fare...it was a wonderfully delicious surprise! Our server was super friendly and gave great advice about the food. We had a great grilled cheese on thick fresh bread with fresh ripe fruit, the 1/2 Chicken Fried Steak (more than enough!) with a fluffy biscuit and tasty gravy, and a well packed BLT with fresh juicy tomato. We will definitely return here and recommend to others!

I think the previous reviewers must have caught them on an off day. KK's offers the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. My family did have to wait a few minutes for a table, and the biscuits weren't anything special. Other than that, my son's pancakes were perfect, my mom's country potatoes were yummy, eggs were nice and fluffy, and the service was good. Definitely worth a visit.

  • *****

Great food, better service, super cute and happy waitresses. It's my go to place for breakfast 5-6 days a week.

  • *****

The chicken fry is excellent. The waitress is friendly and good looking there is a lot of parking spaces.

  • *****

It's so easy to get caught up in going to the local franchises like Denny's for a standard breakfast, but it's fun to try a new local place. The food was extremely reasonable with a lot of it. I ordered the two eggs, cowboy potatoes with biscuit and gravy for 6.99. I enjoyed everything on my plate and my husbands. The biscuits were very good, not dry but extremely fluffy and moist. The potatoes were probably the best I have ever had, crisped perfectly, yet soft and fluffy on the inside and lots of bell pepper. We will definitely be back.

  • *****

REAL homemade delicious food. A must place to eat for breakfast. Incredible chicken fried steak. A little hidden gem!

  • *****

Little place off the beaten path but their breakfast (chicken fried steak) is excellent. Not a big place so go early if you plan on eating there on the weekend.

  • *****

This place is a usual eatery for me. The service is always solid, and the food very consistent. If I am hungry I go for the full order of chicken fried steak. It is HUGE, and come with potatoes (hash browns or country potatoes), and a side of either toast or biscuits and gravy (get the biscuits and gravy).

Most of the time I will order the combo omelette, which also comes with potatoes and a side.

If you're feeling adventurous order a side of spicy sausage patty. It is a standard breakfast sausage patty loaded up with the hot stuff (usually cayenne or red chili flakes). It will certainly get you wide eyed in the morning.

    I definitely recommend this place.

  • *****

Best chicken fried steak breakfast anywhere I'm a big guy and eat a lot of food and a half order is good for me

  • *****

  • *****

One of the best breakfast places in town. Fresh and tasty food, friendly service, and a hometown feel. It's definitely my go to place.

  • *****

Went back today and had their chicken fried steak; it was pretty delicious. Also, it was big enough for two grown men to share. My buddy and I split it, and we neither of us finished our half of the meal served on separate platters. I think that there are definitely guys out there (and maybe ladies, too) who could demolish this whole thing on their own, but I have to imagine there aren't that many out there that can. Add in that the chicken fried steak is only $10 or so and comes with three eggs prepared the way you want them AND your choice of country potatoes or hash browns AND your choice of toast or biscuit and gravy, and you'll see that it's a great deal on the price, too.

I'll be coming back with the wife next time.

  • *****

    Fantastic Food! !

  • *****

Don't let the outside fool you, this is a great greasy spoon diner with killer burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Big portions, spotlessly clean, and a friendly staff! Found it by chance on Google maps at the last second and glad we did!

Feel the need to give a 5 star review to balance out the bad ones. I went to KKs and ordered a full breakfast, to find it filling, but good quality cooking as well. The bacon was thick and meaty, the hash browns were golden brown perfection, scrambled eggs were some of the best I've had. Biscuits and gravy were excellent. Waiting staff were chatty, cracked some jokes for us, and had a well groomed appearance. KKs is good old fashioned Americana.

  • *****

Everytime I come here I make sure I get the biscuits and gravy as my side dish because it's soo good. Every think I try on the menu is absolutely delicious! The best brunch place near my place for sure

  • *****

Place is has amazing breakfast, the okie scramble is amazing, super friendly staff and just all around jamming food. Kinda hard to find but certainly worth finding...... The waitress Rene is very very nice!

  • *****

Small off the highway cafe. Food (breakfast) was very good. Large portions and fast service. I will return.

  • *****

The "Okie Special" scramble was excellent, the service fast, and the waitress very nice.
The place is clean and smoke free. The prices are right and portions are large.

  • *****

Great food, friendly staff, quick service. 3rd time going there for breakfast and it gets better every time. The chicken Fry was excellent (and being from Texas I have had a lot of chicken fry in my days and this ranks up there with the best of them) my wife order the Okie Special which was really good. My daughter is a picky eater and the waitress made sure her breakfast burrito was exactly how she wanted it. We will definently be back!!!!

  • *****

Big portions, fair prices and friendly service. The Okie Special is a must try!

  • *****

1st time visit for Breakfast. We enjoyed our meals and service. Nice small Cafe with Western theme. We'll be back...
